The Raw |
Production Process At the sheet and tin mills, steel is cleaned, annealed (or softened) and coated. Cleaning prepares the steel for further processing, and annealing prevents brittleness for better formability. The main difference between Weirton Steel's sheet and tin mills is in how the product is coated. In the sheet mill, steel is dipped into a bath of liquid zinc to become galvanized steel. In the tin mill, the steel is plated with tin, chrome or zinc.
