recently invested over $350 million in a rebuild of our hot strip mill -- adding two
walking beam furnaces, hydraulic automatic gauge controls, and a seventh finishing stand.
The result is a state-of-the-art facility that produces hot-rolled steel of phenomenal
gauge consistency, shape control and profile tolerances. Weirton's hot rolled sheet steel is available in a wide range of grades including low, medium and high carbon grade. Large coils are our specialty. Weirton is the industry leader in peritectic grades. Precise control over carbon contents during the steelmaking process eliminates surface inclusions and other non-desirable traits. This makes for better surface quality and tensiles for applications which require added strength and rigidity. |
